On the Study of NEI Regime in SNR's: Emission Model and ROSAT PSPC Spectral Fitting Simulations

چکیده
We developed and tested a Non-Equilibrium of Ionization (NEI) emission model to study the X-ray emission of supernova remnants (SNR's) with a paramet-ric tting approach. We present results of ROSAT PSPC spectral tting simulations with our emission model. We found that, the conndence ranges of the plasma temperature tend to be larger with respect to ts with equilibrium of ionization models, the 2 function is characterized by local minima in the parameter space, and there is a strong dependence of the t results on the initial value of the ionization time used in the minimization algorithm. We explain these ndings in terms of the particular nature of the model. We conclude that, in typical cases of young and middle-aged SNR with a moderate ISM absorption, the local minima can be avoided by the 2 tting spectra with 5000 counts or more. Finally, we brieey discuss how this limit aaects the feasibility of spatially resolved spectral analysis of SNR's observed with the PSPC.

X-ray Emission from the Vela Snr Shock Region: Spectral Fitting with a Non-equilibrium Ionization Model
We report on the 5 0 scale spectral analysis of the X-ray emission from a region near the edge of the Vela SNR with a Non-Equilibrium Ionization (NEI) model. We have found signiicant variations of temperature, density, ionization time and interstel-lar absorption. We have identiied an overdense region with higher density and lower temperature than the surrounding medium. That can be interpreted...
متن کاملPsr B1929+10 Revisited in X-rays
We performed timing and spectral analysis for PSR B1929+10, one of the oldest (about 10 years) of the ordinary pulsars detected in X-rays, using archival ROSAT, ASCA and RXTE data. Pulsed emission was detected at a more than five sigma level for combined ROSAT PSPC and unpublished HRI data. Our pulse profile is in agreement with that obtained by Yancopoulos et al. (1994; ROSAT PSPC) but now wit...
متن کاملX‐ray emission in powerful radio galaxies and quasars
ROSAT is the first mission to have detected X-ray emission in radio galaxies which are both powerful (/17s gHz > 1027 W Hz -1 sr -~) and distant (z > 0.4). enabling tests of "unified schemes" through a comparison of the X-ray and radio properties of powerful quasars and radio galaxies. These radio galaxies are faint in X-rays, but, nevertheless, ROSAT is capable of resolving any associated Xray...
متن کاملLoop modeling of coronal X-ray spectra IV. One- and two-loop model fitting of ROSAT PSPC spectra: three test cases
We present a detailed application of coronal hydrostatic loop models to fit ROSAT/PSPC X-ray spectra, using three late-type stars, Procyon (F5 IV V), ι Vir (F6 III), and HR 3625 (F9 V), selected as test cases showing different activity levels. We present results of the spectral analysis with models of coronae made of one class of loops or two classes of loops, and compare them with the results ...
متن کاملX - ray absorption in the strong FeII narrow - line Seyfert 1 galaxy Markarian 507
We present results from spectral analysis of ASCA data on the strong Feii narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 507. This galaxy was found to have an exceptionally flat ROSAT spectrum among the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1s) studied by Boller, Brandt & Fink (1996). The ASCA spectrum however shows a clear absorption feature in the energy band below 2 keV, which partly accounts for the flat sp...
